The Library Connection (TLC) is the Stafford library’s student group, and as their faculty adviser, TLC has allowed me to become the college librarian I always wanted to be! It’s through TLC that I do outreach events like Gaming in the Library, Chess, book discussion groups, Finals Stress Relief and various pop-up tables throughout the year. Being the faculty adviser, students are in and out of my office all the time, and it’s given me a chance to be a mentor to some of the young women.
If you’ve ever considered having a student group, I encourage you to visit a page on my LibGuide where I detail the in’s and out’s of managing a student group.

The document below is part of what was supposed to be presented at the Texas Library Association conference in 2020 (cancelled due to Covid-19), and it’s based on the activities and events put on by TLC. Details on how to do these events can be found here – https://library.hccs.edu/outreach/intro.
